Yes, it’s been a month of two issues – the Coronavirus pandemic continues and the Black Lives Matter protests occurring worldwide in response to the latest examples of systemic racism. To say it’s not been a good month seems a ridiculous understatement.

Fortunately, here in the UK, we have a Prime Minister and government totally on track with dealing with racism. Yeah, right. When Boris responded to the BLM protests by saying this – ‘incontrovertible, undeniable feeling of injustice’, all we could think was that this was the same man who made such statements as describing black Africans being ‘piccaninnies’ with ‘watermelon smiles’ and Muslim women looking like ‘letterboxes’ (and I could have added many more examples.)

Here in the UK, the government is easing lockdown a little,

At one point, most of the politicians involved have made some sort of ‘trust the common sense of the people’ comment. And that was absolutely proven as Britain got a blast of hot weather and everyone in the country definitely didn’t go to the beaches and instead stayed at home.
Alternatively… hot weather + lockdown easing + British common sense = beaches packed around the country…
And anyway, we were all going to be alright in the end, as the Government had unveiled plans for their does it all ‘Contact Tracing’ app. Rejoice Britain, all will be well they said. And then revealed it had been, quelle surprise, cocked up…
Still, at least we’re not going the whole hog and having political rallies…
