Review: ‘The Flash’ #752 Puts Barry Face To Face With His Sins

The Flash may be the timestream’s greatest guardian. However, some of the collateral damage was bound to come back to haunt him, and Paradox might be his undoing.

Joshua Williamson, Howard Porter, Hi-Fi Color, and Steve Wands start one of Barry’s most terrifying adventures in The Flash #752.

Paradox is one step ahead of the Flashes, knocking Barry and his allies back on their heels. However, the villain didn’t count on Barry’s intellect and ability to think on his feet. That could prove to be his undoing…

Barry has long protected the time stream, despite mistakes he’s made along the way (there’s a reason the phrase “dammit Barry” is a meme). It’s great to see Williamson’s plot played in the way it is, with the consequences of his heroism creating the villain. The emotional crux of the story is a gut punch, but has a great logical throughline for getting Barry to advance the plot. It’s all based in the character, and Williamson nails it.

Porter continues to be one of the best artists working on the Flash. He depicts Barry as a man who wears his heart on his sleeve, and that emotion truly comes through on every page. He also gets to show off his design sense, both with Paradox and a new armored costume for Barry. The armor would have looked goofy with anyone else drawing, but Porter makes it look good.

Barry is in a tough spot and the team has created one of the most interesting set-ups in a long time. It looks to be a hell of a ride.

The Flash #752 is available now from DC Comics.
