This past summer, it was announced that Chip Zdarsky, would have a new comiXology Originals series entitled AFTERLIFT. The Eisner winning creator would assume writing duties while art would be from Jason Loo. Also on the project are Paris Alleyne, Aditya Bidikar and Allison O’Toole. At the time, the only description of AFTERLIFT was it was about a rideshare to Hell.
Recently, we learned more details about the plot. In the story, a young woman named, Janice Chen, finds herself lost in life. She decides to quit her job in finance to become a driver for a ride-sharing app. Things take a horrible turn one day when her latest customer wants Janice to take him to the afterlife!
At SDCC, comiXology hosted Zdarsky at their booth for several signings. Fans could receive a poster promoting the series and have it autographed by the writer. I enjoyed the nice personal touch including the little heart. It would have been nice to have “XOXO” as well.
Hop on board this supernatural ride when the first issue of AFTERLIFT to drop this Wednesday, October 30th, on comiXology.
