Dark Horse Comics already had some success with the US release of Blacksad from Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido. Now it has announced a new complete collection of the hardboiled noir series starring the anthropomorphic cat detective, John Blacksad.
The series may start as your typical private eye story with Blacksad constantly up to his ears in trouble, sticking his nose into mystery after mystery, not to mention getting involved with women almost as dangerous as the criminals he’s fighting. He could be solving a murder of a famous actress one moment and keeping nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists the next. His grim work often mirrors real world conflict and human issues like racism, political tensions, and brutally sudden violence.
Fans attending New York Comic Con can meet the creators at the Dark Horse booth (#1554) on Thursday, October 3rd from 2:00 – 2:50 PM and on Friday, October 4th, from 1:00 to 1:50 PM.
Blacksad: The Complete Series collects story pages from Blacksad, Blacksad: A Silent Hell, and Blacksad: Amarillo. That’s five of the detective’s biggest cases in one volume, clocking in at 280 pages. It will retail for $29.99 and it is slated for release on July 1st, 2020. It is currently available for pre-oder at your local comic shop, book store, and Amazon.
